Lamp: Nebula

I had these empty whiskey bottles laying around and I figured instead of sending them off to recycling, why not do try something else. For a couple of them, I turned them into functional art to light up your space. I have a few others that I’m working on as just decorative pieces and maybe they’ll get posted here eventually.

I won’t lie, it was a challenge painting on glass but I figured out a system involving sandpaper (gloves and mask recommended), GAC 200, gesso, and a dishwasher safe modpodge that seems to work. The bottle has some heft on its own but I did choose to add weight with some large glass beads to keep it extra stable if someone were to actually want to buy it and put it to use.

If you’re wondering about the actual bottles, this is from the Chattanooga Whiskey distillery. It’s an added bonus to my work that the bottle already says “Made in Chattanooga Tennessee” all embossed there already.

Also, it’s good whiskey.
