Hello! I’m John and thanks for stumbling upon my tiny corner of the internet. By day, I’m a tech worker slowly being replaced by AI. By night, I draw pictures, make music, and publish books with my best friend and partner Kate.

Why art?

I want to create something – anything – tangible. Something I could see, touch, and enjoy. It brings a level of joy that working with computer stuff just doesn’t.

Do you write books?

I do not. That’s Kate’s job! I do help with the backend, boring work. You know, the layout and printing and all that jazz… I did illustrate a book or two, you’ll see them all in the shop.

How do you use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in your work?

Not for the actual images or books but it’s used around here for the stuff I don’t enjoy doing. Read more on this page: AI Transparency.

What’s this Vulgar Scullery Maid thing?

The cost of running websites is more than the dollar amount you pay for the subscription. There’s time and effort and work and whatever. And I used to run multiple of these sites. For a period, I removed everything and consolidated into a single portfolio site but I remained unhappy. I like running a website but I want to have all of my work in one place, easy to maintain, so I merged it all into a single store/blog/portfolio/web presence site because it’s easier for me.

Also, I love this logo.
