Vulgar Scullery Maid started as an idea, a dream. We were going to write a blog of mostly terrible recipes in the foulest of language! Along the way, something else happened: we wanted to share our beloved art creations with the world and do it in a way that didn’t compromise our artistic vision.
In 2023, we started down this path and landed on Etsy where we sell fun stickers, colorful art, and the silliest of books. We keep evolving and trying new things because we’re proud of our work! 2025 Update
We’ve taken a step back from actively marketing and working under the VSM banner. Are we still doing creative things? Yes. Can you still buy our books and art? Yes. We’ve just moved away from having a storefront under the VSM banner.
Over the last few years, we’ve found that we were constantly explaining that we were the authors/artists behind the work we had for sale. Vulgar Scullery Maid wasn’t a large publisher, a major business, or anything more than just a fun name we wrapped up our collected works under. Ultimately, we felt that the branding didn’t help us attract people to our booth and it often just led to more confusion than anything else.
We’re still trying to figure out the best approach here that allows us to create what we want without having the headache of managing multiple storefronts! We’ll get there eventually.
