The Process
This collage started with magazine clippings collected by wifey over the years. She collected these a decade ago, give or take, and they’ve been traveling around with us every time we’ve moved since. I added a few of my own cutouts from reference books I keep around. Then I just had some fun with it.
Anyway, I take a lot of time and lay out these clippings either on cardboard or one of my older paintings. (Trying not to breathe too hard…)

I’ll pull that image into Photoshop and mask out the background (minimum) and maybe add a filter or two depending on how I’m feeling about the overall presentation.

I take an export from Photoshop and import it into Procreate where I doodle a bunch of stuff and add the colors I want. I’ll export it back to Photoshop when I’m done for a few final tweaks before sending it off to the printer.

Why this art?
Don’t read into it too much. I’m not trying to make a statement, except maybe the leadership thing.
I started creating these because I had the crazy idea of creating a book filled with messy art and some words about the things I’m going through in life. These collage pages were going to separate the chapters just to add some visual appeal. A place to stop and find all the things in the picture. That project is … on hold, shelved indefinitely … but the art can find a home here. Why not?
Mostly, I wanted to create something focusing on the enjoyment of the process and less about the final product.
So like it, or don’t, it’s whatever.
*Disclaimer
I figured I should start adding a sort of mental health disclaimer to the end of my posts for the two people that might actually read these. No matter what I write and draw, or what you read into those things, I’m okay. It’s like this:
