Some time ago, I was working on still life practice using an assortment of wifey’s shoes around the house. I like her shoes for a lot of reasons so it was a fun way to practice up on just trying to create a realistic image of shoes.
The first image in the series were her derby skates that I shared previously. I picked those skates and these pumps because they each have a lot of little details. These, in particular, have a bunch of shiny things affixed to the heels which really increased the difficulty of making them look realistic.
There are a few more in the series that I’ll share over time. I mean, you can cheat and just look at my portfolio because it’s all there already. It shouldn’t be a surprise that I’m writing these posts and scheduling them mostly to share images on the socials.
Anyway, when I was drawing the shoes, I just wanted to add something more and thought it would be really fun to have paint falling from above and running through the shoes. I just didn’t want to have the typical still life. You know, fruit in a basket sitting on a table. It’s good practice but it’s not a lot of fun.
As for the title, I’m pretty sure these are the shoes she wore on our wedding day. Don’t quote me on that, I could be wrong.
