Universe #362425679

Have you ever seen one of those videos where someone tries to explain the difference between a millionaire and a billionaire? It becomes obvious, pretty fast, how hard it is to visualize those large numbers in your mind. The impossibility of it all.

I’ll give you the cliff notes.

Putting aside all the expenses of life and everything that gets in your way, to earn one million dollars and make it into the millionaire club, you would need to earn about $274 dollars per day for 10 years. To make it to the billionaire club? It’s about $274,000 per day for 10 years.

You and I might be able to grasp the concept of making $274 per day but that’s as far as it goes. People like us? We can’t imagine what $274,000 per day would be like. It’s too much!

That’s the universe.

Earth can be the millionaire. You can envision it, imagine what it’s like to see the whole thing, and maybe you have a real shot at getting there someday.

The solar system can be the billionaire. It exists, you’re never going to get out there and you can’t imagine the size and scope of it. Yeah, sure, you know Mars is the next planet over but do you really know how far away it is?

The rest of the universe? May as well be a quintillionaire. There’s just no way we can wrap our minds around the size of the thing. It’s just too big, and too much.

I didn’t have a plan for this when I set out so just go think on it while I end abruptly.
